The Layer List Command
Description:
The Layer List menu command
or toolbar button allows the user to view or modify layer
information in CAMCAD. CAMCAD offers a series
of functions to show Layer information. The straightforward
method is with the Tools > Layers > Layer List
menu command. This dialog offers ways of turning layers
on and off, and viewing/editing Layer Type information.

Here, we see the Layer List dialog. First, we can toggle
the checkbox for viewing the layer. Checked means the
layer is visible, checked but gray means the layer is visible
but not editable, and unchecked means the layer is not visible.
We can also use the dialog buttons to turn on/off all layers,
or turn on just the used layers (layers that contain graphical
elements).
Users can also set Layer Type information in the Layer List
dialog. Layers are Typed during import - CAMCAD
does a great job in identifying and typing layers correctly.
Click on the numbered button next to the layer name
to bring up the Edit Layer dialog, to see how the layer is
typed. Here, we examine a layer identified as Top.
When the Edit Layer dialog appears, we see that it is typed
correctly, as SIGNAL TOP.

If it is discovered that the layer type is not correct (for
example, Custom
Views are not displaying layers as anticipated), simply
change the layer type for that layer. Here, we find
that the layer with the "Silkscreen Top" comment
is set to a Layer Type of UNKNOWN GRAPHIC. We simply
use the dropdown list to retype the layer as SILKSCREEN TOP.
Now, Custom Views will display the layer correctly.

Move Layers To Front / Back
The Layer List has a Right-Click menu that offers commands
for moving layers to front or back. This sends the graphic
elements for that layer first or last in the draw order for
objects on the screen.

Select the layer in the layer list and choose hte appropriate
right-click menu option.
Note: Moving graphics on layers to front or back only
works with top level graphics. This means, graphics that
are part of geometries are not affected by the general Move
Layer to Front / Back command.
