The CAMCAD Design for Manufacturability tests
sometimes employ a direction of travel, if the DFM test
is dependent on understanding how the board / panel is
travelling along the manufacturing conveyor. For example,
a test counting testpoints per net does not use a direction
of travel, but a test checking how top side thru-hole
components are hitting a solder wave is dependent on direction
of travel.
Establishing direction of travel for both
boards and panels is very straightforward. If not told
otherwise, CAMCAD assumes direction of travel is from
left to right. To establish a specific direction of
travel, use the CAMCAD Navigator.

Navigator Dialog with Files folder expanded
In the "Files" folder, users will
see all the boards and panels currently loaded in the
project window. Drill into the Files folder and find the
entry for the file or the panel you want to establish
a direction of travel for. The entry you are looking for
has an icon like a small diskette next to it. Select this
entry and click the Edit Attributes button. In
the Attributes dialog, click Add and choose the
internal attribute named DIRECTION_OF_TRAVEL, and give
it a value of LEFT, RIGHT, UP, or DOWN. This value
cooresponds to the direction the board / panel is travelling
to.
An attribute of DIRECTION_OF_TRAVEL with
no value is equal to having a value of RIGHT. If no DIRECTION_OF_TRAVEL
attribute is present at all on a board or panel, direction
is assumed to be left to right.
Values for DIRECTION_OF_TRAVEL can be: LEFT,
RIGHT, UP, DOWN
