Getting Started with CAMCAD
Download for Licensing Install / Configuration
The first step in installing RSI software is to install and
configure the Flex LM License Engine that drives all licensing
for all RSI software. An easy to understand document can be

RSI PRODUCT LICENSING - GETTING STARTED
Thank you for choosing RSI software. The process for installing
RSI software is generally:
1. Install and configure RSI Licensing and then;
2. Install RSI Product(s) which use(s) the RSI Licensing.
RSI Licensing is tied to either a HOST_ID or from a Dongle
(Physical Hardware that plugs into computer parallel port).
This means that the HOST_ID for the server (Local or Network)
must be known in order for a valid license file to be created.
For a single user software set-up, the HOST_ID is gathered
from the single computer. For a Network software set-up, the
HOST_ID is gathered from the server which is to serve the
RSI License(s) and software to Client Workstations. See Appendix
B for a listing of dongle types supported for different
Windows versions.
RSI has created and distributed a small utility, which identifies
the HOST_ID. The utility can be found at
http://www.rsi-inc.com/rsi_installs/License_Host_ID
Note: Please See Appendix A for more details
on this HostID Utility. Once the HOST_ID has been delivered
to RSI, you will receive a license file. The license file
is used during configuration of RSI License Manager.

APPENDIX A
Identifying HOST_ID Procedure Using "Your HostID"
Utility
Why do I need to use this utility?
Router Solutions now utilizes FlexLM licensing technology
for all RSI products. Because of this, when products are purchased,
Router Solutions will need to have the HOST_ID for your system
in order to create the license file for that particular system.
If this HOST_ID can be provided at the time of purchase, a
license file will be shipped along with the product. This
will make the process of installing and licensing very simple.
On the same day of receiving the product, you will be up and
running.
In some cases, a HOST_ID may not be available on your system.
This would be caused by the absence of an Ethernet card on
the system your installing on. If this were the case, a Dongle
would be required which contains a FLEX_ID.
RSI recommends the use of a dongle as the preferred method
for these reasons:
1. Licensing file is created and shipped with the product
and eliminates the necessity to follow the HOST_ID procedures,
simplifying the licensing process.
2. A dongle allows mobility. A dongle can be transported from
workstation to workstation.
What does this utility do?
The "Your HostID" utility automatically analyzes
your system for the HOST_ID. Once the utility determines your
HOST_ID, copy the HOST_ID string and email it to Router Solutions
at licensing@rsi-inc.com.
How do I use the "Your HostID" utility?
Part A: Downloading "Your HostID" Utility
1. Download the utility install from the RSI FTP site. CLICK
HERE to download.
Path: (ftp://ftp.rsi- inc.com/pub/outgoing/License_Host_ID/HostIDApp.zip)
2. There will be an option to OPEN or SAVE the install.
a. If OPEN is the choice, the zip file will be opened.
b. If SAVE is the choice, the file will be saved to the desired
location.
3. If SAVE was the choice, locate the saved zip file and double
click on it.
4. Unzip the file "HostIDApp.exe" to desired location.
5. Once the file "HostIDApp.exe" is unzipped, double
click the file to launch.
6. Click "Get Host ID" button.
7. Copy the HOST_ID shown in the "Your Host ID is"
field.
8. Report your HOST_ID to RSI via email or a phone call to
request license file generation.
Note: If there is not an Ethernet card, the Ethernet
card is disabled, or there is a problem with the Ethernet
card or network settings then the entry in the "Your
Host ID is" field will contain all 0's. E.G.(000000000000).
In this case you will need to request a Dongle or add an Ethernet
card or correct any problems with your existing Ethernet card.
