Generic Manufacturing Post-Processor
Router Solutions, Inc. developed Generic Manufacturing
.CCM Processor to migrate CAD data into the manufacturing
world. A problem confronted by many manufacturers is that
manufacturing data is difficult and sometimes impossible to
extract from raw CAD data. Compounding this problem is the
fact that CAD data comes in many different formats (PADS,
Mentor, Allegro, PCAD, etc...), making
it difficult to design a one-size-fits-all method of extracting
manufacturing data. Even standardized Gerber data is difficult
and time consuming to work with because intelligence must
be reverse engineered into the unintelligent Gerber data in
order to produce results. This process is not only labor intensive
but is also error prone and thus wastes your company's valuable
resources in trying to recreate what already exists in the
native CAD data.
A further issue is reliability - many companies have developed
in-house software to handle CAD to Manufacturing translations,
but these solutions are typically not robust enough to handle
the wide variety of data that will come in, even from one
customer. Moreover, even if the data is readable, most solutions
on the market do not offer the functionality necessary to
make modifications to the data itself should it be discovered
that editing will be necessary.
Generic Manufacturing .CCM Post Processor is driven
by the .CCM files generated by CAMCAD. CAMCAD
has the ability to import and translate files from more than
20 of the industries most popular PCB CAD formats. The data
can be viewed, queried, edited, manipulated, and prepared
in the CAMCAD environment, and then exported as a .CCM
file.
Once a .CCM file is generated, the data is imported into
Generic Manufacturing Processor. You can choose to
create a generic-insertion file, a generic-test file, or both
with this application. The content of these files is user-definable,
and can range from pin x,y's, to component height to centroid
information based on pins or component outlines.
The output files can also be in either column-format or comma-delimited,
depending on your individual use for the data and your tester's
or insertion machine's data format requirements. This allows
you to use a single solution and a single process for all
of your CAD to CAM needs, significantly accelerating the manufacturing
process. The speed and flexibility of the Generic Manufacturing
Processor will allow you to free up precious engineering
resources while at the same time decreasing your time to market.
